Knocking on Mammow’s Door
On our first date, the man that I married went to the wrong
door of our house. This door was in fact the door to my grandmother’s living
quarters. My father had an apartment built on the side of our existing house;
it was the plan he had talked about with my grandfather, “Granddad’s” death
bed. My grandmother, Mammow, then moved to our house a year after her husband’s
funeral. She passed away when she was 95.
Her daughter, my mother, passed away at 84. I am still
processing that loss, as it has only been four months. I pray that she was
escorted to the correct door.
Is heaven a spot with many doors and are we going to know
the right door to go to?
In
John 14:2, Jesus said “In my Father's house are many mansions: if
it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
There are several other places in the bible that mention
heaven, a heavenly mansion, or a place with many rooms. Is it described as such
for our own level of understanding? Something that we are familiar with would
be an explanation.
How many times do we hear someone explaining something to a
child using words that they would be able to comprehend? Are we then, on that
level?
The greatest scholars and intelligent human beings are still not able to
understand all the concepts presented in God’s design.
In Matthew 18:4, Jesus said, “The greatest person in the kingdom of
heaven is the one who makes himself humble like this child.”
