Day 8 Movement Marketing Summit 2015 #MMS15

Day 8
Disclaimer:
Remember, I am not going back over this to reword stuff, so it might not sound the best, but I  am doing this to be bold and building my confidence.

Our first speaker today was Lorrie Thomas Ross. She spoke to me directly as I am making an effort to blog and write from my heart to share this Summit. I have connected to this group in a way that is personal and Lorrie helped me to see that I can blog on this topic. So thanks Lorrie!
One of the first things that she said was "Sharing is caring." She gets right into the education part of her MarkEDing. What do you want people to understand about your message? In this digital world, the customer wants to be able to look up anything or anyone and check out the authenticity of the comment or person. Keep it real. Like AJ said, information flows like water - people can find anything. Lorrie confirmed that teachers teach those who care, who are listening. If the blog is looked at like a tool - it will be a tool. It has to come from a place of purpose. The quantity of blogs isn't at all close to the value of the quality. When Andy asked about the frequency of blogs, she said when you have something with quality, blog it. It doesn't have to be a certain technology to matter. (my blogspot blog posts are ok) In sharing Lorrie simply stated "Tell them what you told them - and then tell them again"
5 Important factors to success:

  • Theme - has to be bigger than your business
  • Content - whats interesting to you, so you have engagement
  • Design - helps to know who you are
  • SEO - Clear title, key phrases (tagging), inspire
  • Outreach  - share the link, share the link, share the link.
Love that she said she connects from the heart first. (if you can't blog it, sucks to be you)
Two take aways; Success comes in cans - Failure comes in can'ts. & HAVE FUN
Thank you Lorrie Thomas Ross, for giving of yourself to this Summit.

                                                  ******************

The next speaker was someone that I have followed for years and I trust him. His name is Jeff Goins. The person who got me into blogging to begin with.
  • Think like a pro
  • Write for an audience - what connects with others - find others and try to help them - find value.
Shift from 'self-focused' to 'others-focused'. You need to do the work to succeed. Writing, as in life, it takes lots and lots of practice. Use the 3 circles method.
  • Find the intersection of your passion - your skill - the demand, want or need.
  • That is the 'sweet spot' - write about it
  • Build relationships - find a way to help them.
  • Use a tool that helps you get your foot in the door.
My favorite part was when Jeff tweaked the adage "It's not what you know, but who you know" reiterated "It's not what you know, but who you help."
Not who you know, but who you help. So very real. Be persistent. Tell the story about building success instead of steps to becoming successful.
Ebooks - to get their email list.

Like the cookie analogy that AJ says. "Hey I'm getting tired of one cookie, can I get a dozen at a time?" Jeff's response -feedback. "These cookies are great. I would like more brown sugar in this one" or "Hey you need less...." It's all in the communication. Find out what they want.
You need patience in your efforts.

Thank you Jeff Goins. You are always available.

                                                ******************
The next speaker was Jon Morrow. Great man that shared the honesty about the work that it would take to get to where you want to be. He laid it out and said we need to be willing to 'pay the price'. One of the really important strategies would be to find a mentor. Someone you respect. Spend 80 % of your time building relationships, 20% on your own content. You need to have the right people like you. Build relationships and rapport so that you can be in touch with others. When you have others, those friends have other friends too that will share your stuff.
Jon gave us an example to imagine. What if Martin Luther King gave his I have a Dream speech to an empty room? Don't talk to an empty room. You need to have the right people like you.
One myth is that you need to publish all the time - Reality in the real world, you should publish when you have something awesome. Jon's team publishes once a week if the post is the best. It needs to be the most awesome blog about the topic that is out. - Otherwise it does not get posted. You need to train your readers to open emails from you to get to the link of your blog because they expect quality. Thus it will be published by an authority - someone people trust and believe in.
You need to respect the craft/ learn the craft - Practice - Jon took 3-4 years to get it down. He wrote 100 headlines/ day. 36,000 in one year. Even if you are a slow learner you are going to learn.
  • respect your message - the more people that see it the better
  • find your hero - be around them - when they see that you are going to be a star, they will help you
  • if you want to make $$, improve others lives - create the impact
  • Great content is not enough. - Relationships and who you hang with.
  • get others to copy your posts and word of mouth spread your reputation.
Contact - Relationships - Impact / Your success is directly proportional to the influence of people you know.
Thank you Jon Morrow for sharing.

                                                   ***************
The last speakers today were two of the business growth consulting that share how to 10x your business growth. These two men are the titans of marketing for real. They both shared openly and honestly about the hard work that is involved in making your business grow. They can set up the place for you to 'perform but you gotta have the stuff to share'. In facing all the steps to achieve your goal, just look at the inches in front of you. Think "Where did I do something that helped me or someone else with life?" and DO THAT.
  • You need to have your strategy lined up - outline your tactics - set a plan
  • Apply standards - implement the operating processes.
  • Measure & automating - know your numbers
Go into your customer's mindset.
  • who is your ideal market
  • where they are or hangout
  • who is selling to them
  • how can I target them
Use what Social Networks have to help market. The bigger the goal, the better the outcome. Use Webinar to cross add. When these guys have a client they always have a dashboard in line to watch them. Keeping track
The biggest trend right now is remarketing - little pixel on landing page which focuses on what the looked at and approaches them while it's still inside their head.
Contextual based dynamic adds or marketing - Where they are at that moment in time.

Thank you Shane & Ryan. You two have it all figured out.

GBYD ~ God Bless Your Day
